Our Story
Each of us were raised to believe in our U.S. Constitution, to have faith in our Justice System, and to trust that the truth always matters. However, each of us have come face to face with the hard reality that our system is broken.

After the initial shock, we began reaching out of the darkness to share our stories. It was then that we found each other and founded our organization.

At Advocates For the Falsely Accused, we believe all of us are like Lighthouse Keepers. It is our commitment to keep the light shining to help others see that they are not alone. We will show the world how easily our innocent are falsely accused by fiercely advocating for change.

Meet The Founding Advocates
Dawn Wolfson
President
Dawn became aware of the damage done to the innocent by false accusations after a family member was falsely accused of rape. It cost the family three years of fear and $40,000 before the truth came out and the charges were dropped. Even cases with good outcomes cause harm such as financial damage, job loss, depression, drug use and worse. Cases with bad outcomes result in the innocent and their families suffering as a result of incarceration, harassment and worse. Dawn is passionate about raising awareness of the prevalence of false accusations, confessions and convictions, and about finding ways to prevent miscarriages of justice in our system.
Dawn Dural
Vice President
Dawn Dural, a beacon of resilience and determination, has dedicated her life to the pursuit of justice in various capacities. She has extensive experience in operational and program management, and a tenacity in her unwavering commitment to helping overturn a wrongful conviction. Her story is one of perseverance and advocacy.

Born in Ohio, but raised in Hawaii, Dawn exhibited a natural aptitude for leadership and problem-solving from a young age. Her passion for justice was ignited throughout the years, shaped by personal experiences and a deep-rooted sense of fairness.

Dawn has worked in operational management positions for over 26 years, while navigating the complexities of different roles that demanded efficiency and innovation in her employment and personal life.

Driven by a desire to correct the injustices served upon her husband in 2003 by a wrongful conviction, with relentless determination, Dawn put herself through school, earning three degrees, navigated the legal system, mobilized support from the Hawaii Innocence Project, and relentlessly pursued every avenue for justice. Her unwavering commitment not only brought attention to her husband’s case, but also sparked broader conversations about the flaws within the justice system.
After years of tireless efforts, Dawn and her husband Roynes, achieved a monumental victory when his wrongful conviction was overturned, exonerating him of all charges. Their story serves as a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring power of perseverance in the face of adversity.

Today, Dawn continues her aim to be a voice for the voiceless, an advocate for systemic reforms to prevent wrongful convictions, and a supporter to those who face the devastation that comes with false accusations and wrongful convictions. Her drive for justice serves as an inspiration to all who strive to make the world a more just and fairer place.
Orion Monroe
Board Member
Orion Monroe, writer and director, followed his passion into the film industry. He believes films based on often rejected topics, such as false accusations of sexual abuse, must be produced to reach the hearts of America. After winning 41 international awards for the Butterfly short, he has completed enormous work to take this to the next level. His full length Butterfly film is now in production!

"Butterfly" portrays the true story of a young man caught up in the deceitful lies of his jealous girlfriend. It doesn't take long before these accusations lead to a wrongful conviction for a rape that did not occur. This film is certain to be the next wave since the Johnny Depp trial as it will open up conversation and awareness of how innocent men everywhere have their lives destroyed by false accusations of sexual assault.

Mr. Orion is a powerful advocate for our falsely accused and plans to continue bringing true stories to life via film so that others may feel the truth of this destruction within their hearts.

Lori DeBolt
Board Member
Lori understands first hand how easily the system discards the truth and how difficult it is to free the innocent. Not only is her loved one serving time in prison for a crime he did not commit, but she too was wrongfully convicted. While speaking out to raise awareness of false accusations, the same one that falsely accused her loved one also accused her of stalking. After two years of fighting, the Appellate court finally reversed the charges against her. To this day, she still fights to free her loved one. Truth should never be this hard to prove.
She is committed to holding accountable the institutions and organizations that support and encourage false accusations.

Eric Scott
Board Member
Eric Scott is a former three term Mayor of Brookshire Texas. He created a strong legacy of always putting the people first until false accusations ended his career.

Mr. Scott worked diligently for the City by building a fortress balance sheet which took the City out of a $10,000 deficit and implemented a program that successfully took down twelve dilapidated buildings (some of which were being used as crack houses and prostitution). The City then substantially increased in physical size, more homes were built which took renters into first time home ownership, crime went down, and drug dealers were pushed out of business. One of the most noteworthy crises included the arrest of a resident who sent a bomb to Governor Greg Abbott and President Barrack Obama.

Almost immediately after winning his third term, Mr. Scott was arrested two times, back-to-back because of two false accusations. He was not indicted for one of the accusations. As for the second false accusation, the jury unanimously found him Not Guilty in less than thirty minutes. Unfortunately, by the time the truth surfaced, his political enemies (some backed by the drug dealers and others for personal gain) continued to stack and promote the lies to keep him cancelled and end his legacy of putting people first.

Since the injustices were perpetrated against him, he has become aware of the worldwide plague of false allegations and of citizens who have been and are now falsely incarcerated. He is now dedicating the next chapter of his life toward raising awareness to help end such injustices, creating a Registry of False Accusers, and working hard to have the Reputation Recovery Act passed in Congress.
